The "Stand Alone" is a microcontroller based
device with multiple I/O channels. The unit is connected to
a copy machine with a four wire cable. Two of these wires enable
the copier with a relay in the unit. The other two wires connect
to an opto-isolated transistor in the unit, to count the number
of copies made. The unit has 3 additional opto-isolated inputs
that may be used as counter or level detection inputs. The device
has non volatile RAM and a battery backed up real time clock. The
power is from a class 2 wall transformer. Communication with the
device is by an on board RS485 serial port. Data may be entered
or viewed via a key pad and LCD display, printer, or laptop
software.
Physical Specs
The enclosure is 4.876" x 1.5": made
from ABS GSM UL rated 94 plastic. It has DB15, Power and Keypad
connectors.
- Female DB15: all inputs and outputs except the Keypad and Power
- Male power jack, 2.4 mm.:9 VAC input
- Miniature female Din: 8 wire connection to the Keypad
Power
A class 2 wall transformer providing 9VAC @ 500
mA plugged into the male power jack on the side of the unit.
Options
- Keypad - This unit is a 4x4, 16 key or
5x8, 40 key membrane Keypad with a 2x24 LCD. This option
is used for installation, problem reporting and for copy
control. A five-foot, 8 conductor cable with a male DIN
plug is used to connect to the R3's female DIN plug.
- PC-Link Connector Cable - Used to connect laptop software to copy control unit.
- RS485 Printer - This unit is a stand
alone dot matrix printer with a RS485 interface. This
device has a 4-wire, 6-4 telecom plug that inserts into
the copier cables network jack.
- Custom Cable Assemblies - Depending on
the copier make and options, a pre-wired cable is
supplied, consisting of a 6 ft. length of cable with a
DB15 male with a 6-4 telecom jack to be used as a network
interface, and the appropriate end connector.
Reliability
Resistance to nominal vibration passes NSTA
standards. The on-board battery has adequate capacity to maintain
the memory and clock for a minimum of 10 years from manufacture.
Installation
Custom cable assemblies fits most requirements.
Setting up and testing the Stand Alone unit in the field is done
with the Key Pad.
Compliance
The Unit complies with FCC part 15, subpart J,
Class B and FCC part 68, as well as UL or equivalent.
